Quality Control Checker

We are currently recruiting a Quality Control Checker for a permanent, full-time role, starting in 2026.

Position Type: Permanent
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per year (Depending on experience)
Location: Southampton

Primary Purpose of the Position

Perform quality checks on rolling stock and associated parts to ensure that all items are safe and meet customer specifications before leaving the facility. Inspect units, stock, and parts to ensure consistency and uniformity.

Duties Include:

  • Establish and update quality control testing procedures and protocols
  • Ensure all units, parts, and stock have been quality checked and approved for release following any technical modifications, PDI, reworks/repairs, body spraying, car washing, or as instructed by the Technical Services Senior Supervisor
  • Maintain testing equipment
  • Process the administration of checks (e.g., completing checklists, preparing inspection reports)
  • Reject units or parts that do not meet standards and send back for rework
  • Complete all associated administration and checklists for allocated tasks
  • Capture all quality-related activities in the TPA system/scanner
  • Notify the Senior Supervisor promptly if daily/weekly targets cannot be met
  • Strive to achieve consistently high levels of productivity and customer service
  • Interface with customers and third parties professionally and courteously
  • Maintain high standards of dress code, housekeeping, and site presentation
  • Communicate regularly with relevant stakeholders on progress
  • Ensure role-related equipment is in good condition and report defects
  • Handle and dispose of waste correctly in line with regulations
  • Assist in other areas of the department and wider business as reasonably required
  • Act as an ambassador for the business by mentoring and setting a good example

Accountabilities:

Role Specific:

  • Understand customer expectations and standards in detail
  • Complete all quality checks accurately and to customer standards
  • Reject and send back for rework any units, parts, modifications, PDI, or reworks that do not meet standards, and report rejections
  • Sort and dispose of waste correctly in line with regulations
  • Maintain the workplace according to 5S principles
  • Keep job-related tools and equipment in good condition and report defects
  • Achieve daily targets
  • Capture all quality checks in the TPA system

  • Maintain up-to-date and valid certifications required for the role
  • Stay current with customer requirements, including checks, administration, and cargo damage procedures
  • Undertake any reasonable training, including reassessment of existing licenses
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standard operating practices, recommending improvements
  • Maintain a diplomatic and courteous approach with customers and stakeholders

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and administration skills

  • Previous experience in a similar role (preferred)
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
