Supervisor

We are currently recruiting a Supervisor for a permanent, full-time role, starting in 2026.

Position Type: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 – £42,000 per year (depending on experience)
Location: Southampton

Primary Purpose of the Position

Under the direction of the Senior Supervisor, ensure all Technical Services operational activities are delivered in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. The role is responsible for supervising operations, maintaining cargo quality handling procedures, and preventing damage in line with WalWil and customer processes. The Supervisor will ensure all KPIs are achieved and provide effective leadership to all operational workers (permanent or co-workers) in line with WalWil leadership expectations.

Duties Include:

  • Deliver safe, effective, and timely operational activities in line with customer SLAs/KPIs, manufacturer handling instructions, and WalWil contractual requirements
  • Drive operational excellence, productivity, customer service, and brand values
  • Supervise and lead operational workers, assigning tasks within allocated areas of responsibility
  • Ensure all safety briefings and equipment checks are completed prior to the start of activities
  • Ensure effective utilisation of labour, cost, and equipment resources
  • Lead or support onboarding and on-the-job training for new starters
  • Monitor team performance to ensure standards are consistently met
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and recommend training and development
  • Communicate and implement changes to global, local, or departmental policies and procedures
  • Interface with customers and third parties in a professional and courteous manner
  • Maintain high standards of dress code, housekeeping, and site presentation
  • Deputise for the Senior Supervisor when required
  • Support other teams or departments as reasonably required and within skill level
  • Act as an ambassador for the business by mentoring others and leading by example

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines while managing changing priorities
  • Process- and data-driven, with the ability to interpret performance metrics
  • Confident in managing conflict and resolving issues appropriately
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Numerate, accurate, and detail-focused
  • Ability to understand, accept, and work effectively within diverse teams
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office and operating systems
  • Proven Health & Safety experience, particularly in yard or depot environments
  • Experience maintaining quality in a fast-paced operational setting
  • Ability to create and follow risk assessments, safe systems of work, and SOPs
  • Basic English language skills (English is the company’s global business language)
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Desirable: previous experience in a similar supervisory role, plant licenses (FLT, aerial platform), overhead crane licence, knowledge of transport documentation and customs procedures
